One of the primary reasons many homeowners choose to upgrade their appliances is due to the efficient appliance rebate that is offered by the government. Rebates are given through state governments in conjunction with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. These rebates can apply to nearly any major home appliance, from refrigerators to furnaces.
The amount of an efficient appliance rebate can vary from state to state. As part of the Recovery Act, states are given the authority to establish their own rebate system, and as such the amount can differ. If you want to find out what your state offers, there are a variety of websites that can help, including the United States Department of Energy website.
However, the energy efficient appliance rebate isn’t the only reason to invest in a modern appliance. Over the long haul, these appliances can save the homeowner quite a bit of money in energy costs, often a great deal more than the difference in price between an efficient and not-so-efficient model. Furthermore, they can be of tremendous benefit to the environment, as they are designed to conserve energy, thereby helping to reduce the amount of fossil fuels that are used to generate the electricity we use everyday.
